Quarry Expansion Gets The Go-Ahead

Scottish Borders Council has approved plans for the expansion of a quarry on Soutra.

Skene Group aim to double the size of operations at the site at Blackshiels.

They will extract around 450,000 tonnes a year over the next 20 to 25 years.

Planning committee chairman Jock Houston told BBC Scotland the conditions should help to protect the surrounding area.
