Branchton Community Centre is hitting the high notes thanks to Glasgow builders Rok following the opening of a recording studio.
Rok, which was involved in a new build housing project nearby for Oaktree Housing Association, built the music studio free of charge so residents could fine tune their talents in a fully functioning recording space. Rok also donated £500 for new musical equipment.
Before the opening, pupils from Aileymill Primary School were invited to design a new logo for the centre. Rok and Branchton Community Centre unveiled the winning design during the opening and presented the budding young designers with acoustic guitars as prizes.
Vanessa Todd, Rok’s Community Liaison Officer, said: “Rok is delighted to have helped provide this music studio for Branchton. There are budding musicians throughout the community and before the studio’s opening, there was nowhere in the area to record music. Rok wanted to build a facility that everyone could use and enjoy, regardless of their ability.”
Kevin Rodgers, Branchton Community Centre Project Coordinator, added: “Rok has helped to bring a fantastic facility to the community and as we could not have applied for funding for such a project, we wouldn’t have any facility to record music without Rok’s help.
“There are a lot of very talented musicians in our area and it’s great that they now have somewhere to practise and record locally. We are also very impressed by the standard of entries from the primary school; there is obviously a huge amount of artistic talent in Branchton.”
