Barr Project Wins Prestigious RIBA Award

Eight Scottish buildings, including several in Glasgow, have won prestigious awards from the Royal Institute of British Architects.

The winners were announced at a ceremony at The Lighthouse in Glasgow recently, and include two buildings designed by Reiach and Hall Architects. The winning projects range from private housing to hospitals – including Stobhill Hospitals – the new Trongate 103 art space in Glasgow, a city centre hotel and a major new sports facility in Aberdeen.


David Dunbar, the president of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland, said: “There are practices throughout Scotland, of scales varying from sole practitioner to multidisciplinary, multi-director, producing award-winning work which can compare favourably with the best elsewhere in the UK and indeed in Europe.”

The eight buildings are: Aberdeen Regional Sports Facility and the new Stobhill Hospital in Glasgow by Reiach and Hall Architects; Balnearn Boathouse by Mckenzie Strickland Associates: Hotel Missoni, in Edinburgh, by Allan Murray Architects: House on the Hill in Aberdeenshire by Paterson Architects; Infirmary Street Baths in Edinburgh by Malcolm Fraser Architects; the Small Animal Hospital in Glasgow by Archial Architects and Trongate 103 in Glasgow by Elder and Cannon Architects.
