The council, ACHA and Scottish Water have agreed a proposal to give Scottish Water access via Park Square, which is to have a new road built through it, reducing the requirement to lay pipes up Kinloch Road past Aqualibrium and along Lochend Street to the junction with Millknowe Road. Now, only 70m of pipes will be required along Kinloch Road before being directed through Park Square.

Councillor John Semple, Chair of the Campbeltown CHORD Project Board, said: “This is a common sense move which will benefit everyone involved – including the residents and businesses of South Kintyre.
“The works being undertaken by Scottish Water are essential upgrades, which previously threatened to cause significant disruption to the town centre.
“This agreement ensures that inconvenience to the general public is kept to an absolute minimum, given that Scottish Water require significantly less digging at Kinloch Road and none at all on Lochend Street.”
It is expected that the work on Park Square will start within the next two months.
