Council Housing Improvements On Track

Dundee City Council's housing stock should meet a national quality standard in five years' time, according to a report to go before councillors next week.

The council's housing, Dundee Contract Services and environment services committee will today discuss a review of efforts to meet the Scottish Housing Quality Standard by 2015.


Committee Convener Councillor Jimmy Black said: "We are halfway through the timescale for meeting the standard and the review shows that we are still on track for 2015.

"Tenants across the city are already benefiting from improvements that have been carried out to their homes and we want to continue the investment.

"That will mean spending about £90 million over the next five years to meet the standard as well as an additional £33 million in non SHQS work. It is a huge commitment but we are determined to make a real difference to our housing stock."
