National law firm, HBJ Gateley Wareing, has acted on behalf of Hillcrest Housing Association Limited in its acquisition of the prestigious development site at Quartermile in Edinburgh.
The firm advised on the legal structure, and provided all the contract and property advice to Hillcrest with construction and procurement support.
Located on the site of the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary this flagship project will deliver 174 mixed tenure, high quality, affordable homes at this city centre location, a feat accomplished in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council and the Scottish Government.
Kate Dewar, partner and housing specialist, who led the HBJ Gateley Wareing team said: "It was a privilege to have been involved in this innovative project which will see the delivery of a variety of much needed, quality designed homes, in a beautiful historic setting, and to have been part of a committed project team focussed on achieving not just additional houses but a sustainable community in the heart of the City.
“The acquisition is timely, completed as it was, just ahead of the publication of the Scottish Government’s Policy Document, Homes Fit for the 21st Century last Friday which promotes many key features of the Quartermile project from the provision of more homes for an increasing and ageing population, to providing tenure options in a secure environment and levering best value from available grant funding. We congratulate Hillcrest on a fantastic achievement.”
