The £400,000 upgrade and extension means the facility will be fully wheelchair accessible. Thermal insulation levels and WC facilities will be improved to modern standards. Whilst this work is being carried out, from Monday 18 April until completion in September, the office building will be inaccessible.
During this time, those visiting the office and Book of Remembrance will be able to access a temporary facility within the chapel building through the side door, situated near the exit hall door of the building. Signs will be clearly on display to assist visitors during the temporary arrangements.

All traffic accessing the Crematorium should use what is currently the exit gate. This will be widened to accommodate two-way traffic. A dedicated space for funeral cars and disabled drivers will be made available at the rear of the crematorium. All other visitors should continue to make use of the parking bays available in the main area of the car park.
Liz Murphy, Bereavement Services Manager said: “We aim to keep disruptions to a minimum during this period of renovation and will work closely with the on site staff to ensure access for funeral services to the Crematorium are provided without disruption. Together we will ensure works and traffic are managed accordingly and that as much of the grounds remain available to the public as possible.
“Upon completion, we will be able to offer a far better facility for our customers to visit.”
