Extensive internal work to the Grade B listed building by contractors Mansell Construction Services Ltd began in March this year and is progressing very well indeed.
The demolition of the Cargill Club has already been completed along with the extension which housed the kitchen and meeting rooms.
Members of the public will be able to see more visible developments to the exterior next month when scaffolding is erected so work on the foundations and roof can carried out during the summer.

The project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2012 when the easily accessible building will include multipurpose community facilities with catering and bar facilities which will also attract nationally profiled performance arts events and also the re-provisioned Cargill Club area.
As part of the project the council is working with Lanark Museums Trust and local schools to develop a timeline and electronic information kiosk to be displayed in the building.
The council will also continue to produce regular newsletters which will be distributed and displayed in major venues in Lanark along with regular updates on the website showing photographic progress throughout the duration of the project.
