Knight Frank Delivers For Royal Mail In Stornoway

Knight Frank has completed the conversion of a former industrial unit into a delivery office for Royal Mail in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis.

The £400,000 project took four months to complete and converted the existing building into a new sorting office with associated service facilities.

It included the extension of the existing yard to accommodate the Royal Mail delivery vehicles, an external canopy to protect vehicles from bad weather conditions and a new public enquiries office for mail collection.

Royal Mail’s delivery office in Stornoway has been housed in temporary accommodation since 2007 following a major fire.

The new accommodation provides a modern and bespoke facility for the main postal hub in the Western Isles.

Roddy Morrison, associate, Knight Frank said: “We are really pleased to have provided architectural and lead consultancy services on this project. We have managed to convert an existing unit into a facility that meets current Royal Mail standards. The new delivery office will service the Western Isles for many years to come and we’re pleased that the client was happy with the final product.”

Paul Hill, Royal Mail project manager, added: “Knight Frank provides us with a professional and efficient service, consistently delivering high quality results. The new delivery office is no exception to this and we’re delighted that the project has been delivered on time and to brief.”

The project is one of many completed by Knight Frank’s building consultancy team in Aberdeen as part of their ongoing contract with Royal Mail.

The firm has been providing building consultancy services to Royal Mail’s property portfolio in Scotland for over 20 years. During this time, Knight Frank has serviced 189 different Royal Mail properties from across Scotland.
