Mr Stevenson is the latest recruit for the service which was launched in March and allows people to get advance flood warnings, free of charge, direct to their phone if flooding is predicted for their area.
The minister signed up during a visit to SEPA's Perth office, where he also found out more about the agency's role in flood forecasting and its extensive monitoring network.
Mr Stevenson said: "The impact of flooding can be devastating which is why it's vital that people can get as much warning as possible if their home or business is at risk.

"Previously, people had to rely on the media, local warning information or SEPA's recorded message service. But Floodline's direct warning service gives everyone access to SEPA's extensive flood forecasting expertise, allowing them to get an early warning sent directly to their phone if their area is at risk.
"Giving people more warning of floods, means they have more time to prepare and protect themselves and their property. I'd urge more people to sign up to Floodline - it's a simple step that we can all take to help prepare ourselves in the event of a flood."
Dr Campbell Gemmell, SEPA's Chief Executive said: "We are delighted to introduce the Minister to SEPA's flood forecasting and warning hub in Perth, and to some of the staff who work hard behind the scenes. The Scottish Flood Forecasting Service, a SEPA/Met Office partnership, and our Floodline direct warning service are both significant investments to help Scotland be better prepared, and all of us more resilient to flooding."
