Lovell Scotland Scoop Prestigious Award

Affordable housing specialist Lovell has received a bronze award in the Considerate Constructors Awards 2011. The award commends Lovell for its exceptional achievements in the categories of neighbourhood relations and responsibility.

Lovell won the award following completion of the £5 million Hartlaw Crescent and Chirnside Place Deck Access project, which Lovell worked on in conjunction with partners Glasgow Housing Association. The homes have now transferred under Second Stage Transfer to Southside Housing Association.

The external refurbishment project, which began in August 2009 and was completed in November 2010, involved roof rendering and ancillary work to seven deck access blocks, a total of 219 flats. A particularly outstanding feature of the work was the striking appearance of the structure at night.

In addition to the successful completion of the scheme, merit was also given to Lovell for its work with the local community throughout the duration of the project. Activities included regular coffee mornings with the tenants to update them on progress and harness their feedback as the work was taking place.

Alan Taylor, regional director at Lovell, commented: "Lovell is delighted to have won this prestigious award, particularly at a time when we have just begun work on a number of other notable projects in the area. The award recognises not only the excellence of our staff, but also the emphasis and importance that we place on getting involved with the local community and ensuring they are involved with the schemes that we work on."
