A surveyor from South Ayrshire Council's property services is flying high after she and her fiancé scooped the top prize in a local radio wedding competition.
Anne Lochrie (27) and Lee Wilson (27), who is a heating engineer, took the top spot in the West FM Wedding Competition, which annually receives over 60 entries.
They will now get to work planning a fantastic dream wedding worth more than £10,000 at the Lochside House Hotel.
Included in their prize package are wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, DJ or band, cake, kilts, photographer, videographer, rings, stationery, helicopter ride for the groom, cars, hair accessories, bridal lingerie, wedding hair, flowers, coaches, balloons, chair covers, beauty treatments, a giggle pod booth (a photo booth modern equivalent of a guest book) – and even a laptop computer to plan everything on.
The couple, who live in Irvine with their one-year-old daughter Eva, have been together for nine years after meeting as teenagers. They became engaged in April 2009, after Lee proposed during a surprise birthday trip to Venice.
They were nominated for the competition by Anne's dad, William. He said: "I am delighted they have won – they are a great couple and have worked really hard to get to where they are. This prize will allow them to have the wedding of their dreams, which is what they deserve and I can't wait to walk my wee girl down the aisle."
Anne said: "I don't think it's sunk in yet. It's so exciting and we're really looking forward to sitting down and starting to plan our day – although I think the guest list has doubled already since we found out we won! We want to thank everyone who took the time to vote for us – it means such a lot and will make an incredible difference to the wedding we can have.
"This will give us the ideal way to complete our family."
Anne's Executive Director, Lesley Bloomer, added: "Our congratulations go to Anne and Lee and I hope they have a wedding day they will always remember. Forget Kate and Wills – 2012 will be all about Anne and Lee."
