Dundee Residents Invited To Help Design Parks

A SOCIAL housing provider has invited members of the local community to help design new outdoor spaces.

It comes as part of ongoing regeneration in the Mill O' Mains area of Dundee, where diggers moved in this week to demolish old flats and make way for 70 new-build homes.

Residents have been asked to share their visions for outdoor gardens and play areas.

Housing provider Home Scotland, part of Home Group, has invited people living in Mill O' Mains to a consultation event near Mull Terrace on Monday August 6 between 12pm-2pm and 4pm-6pm.

The interactive event, organised with the help of community group Open Spaces, will inspire residents to get involved with five aspects of landscape design – flower gardens, vegetable growing, children's play, social areas and attracting wildlife. Residents from across Mill O’ Mains, as well as staff from local housing and care and support agencies, will all be welcome.

The event will kick off a longer-term consultation through focus groups and face to face interviews.

Samantha Gillespie, community engagement partner for Home Scotland, said: "We've already been working with the Open Spaces community group, who have been incredibly motivated and enthusiastic about planning the event. We think this will really show through at the consultation, and hope it will inspire the rest of the community to get involved with shaping Local Areas for Play."

Representatives from Home Scotland and Open Spaces will be available for questions at the consultation.
