Opportunity For Residents To View Gleneagles Station Link Road Proposal

Residents of Auchterarder will have the opportunity from Monday 20th August 2012 to view for themselves the Council's proposals for construction of a new link road connecting Gleneagles Station to the A823.

The link road is intended to come from the A9/A823 Loaninghead roundabout and replace the current junction with the A9 and existing access road to the station. This proposal is aimed at improving road and pedestrian safety and, it is hoped, encouraging greater use of the rail network by residents, visitors and businesses in both the Strathallan and Strathearn areas.

The existing roundabout on the A823 will be enlarged and the new link road will form a new arm off the roundabout. The single carriageway link road will have a footway along its entire length. At Gleneagles Station, a turning circle with provision for dropping off and picking up passengers by bus and taxi will also be built as part of this project. Disabled parking spaces and a cycle shelter and racks are also proposed.

It is also intended that the existing parking provision would be increased with an additional 100 roadside spaces.

The proposal will be on display at Auchterarder Library for three weeks and local people will be asked to give their views by Friday 14th September 2012.
