A77 Scheme In Progress

Preparation work for the A77 Symington and Bogend toll improvements has begun.

These advance works are a critical part of the design process and progress of this vital scheme to improve safety on this key route.

To ensure the safety of road workers and road users there will be an inside lane closure on the northbound A77 carriageway for up to three days from 4 September.

This closure will start after the morning commuter period and before the evening rush (9.30am – 3.30pm), in stretches of approximately 400 metres, from Dutch House roundabout northwards to Spittalhill Interchange.

There will also be minor roadworks off the main carriageway during this period.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: "These investigation works enable us to assess the ground conditions to ensure we develop the scheme to the best possible standards.

"We appreciate the impact closures can have on busy routes like the A77 and that is why we have restricted not only the timing but also the length of the closure at any one time.

"We would like to apologise, in advance, for any inconvenience this work may cause and advise drivers to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for live information before setting off."

The A77 Symington and Bogend Toll Improvements scheme will improve safety by introducing flyover junctions and removing the need for right hand turns across this busy road.
