Owners of a 500-acre arable farm north of Inverness have put their trust in biomass heating.
BioWIN boilers by Windhager will now heat the farmhouse and cottages and Mounteagle Farm, replacing oil central heating.
The boiler room was constructed within an existing building and comprises two 45kW BioWIN Exclusiv boilers in cascade, served by an automatic change over unit, each with eight suction probes. A 1,500-litre AccuWIN accumulator tank was also installed along with a 15-ton capacity wood pellet hopper housed remotely from the main plant room. The Windhager suction system enables wood pellet boilers to be located up to 25 metres away.
Douglas Russell, owner of Mounteagle Farm said: "I chose a Windhager biomass boiler because it was clearly a well engineered quality boiler system from Austria, with a robust reputation, supported by a network of local engineers providing full backup. The installation, commissioning and operation of the system has been a fantastic experience. The system works perfectly. We have never been so warm in our house. I don't know why I waited as long as I did!"
The BioWIN wood pellet heating solution is perfect for larger heating requirements. The development was focused on maximising fuel efficiencies, safety and easy operation along with a compact design and unique flexible pellet storage solution. The two BioWIN boilers running in cascade at Mounteagle Farm can offer a varied output, sensing that if only one boiler is needed, only one will turn on, providing a modulating output from 13.5kW to 90kW.
The full range of wood pellet boilers and log gasification boilers from Windhager are manufactured to the highest standards and are approved HETAS and MCS appliances making them eligible for financial support through the Renewable Heat Incentive scheme.
