The £15m refurbishment has been backed by the Council, and will now see the regeneration of land around the former Shawfield Industrial Estate.
Councillors also approved a £6m scheme which will revamp a derelict former factory site in Farmeloan Road and bring it back to business use.
Both projects could attract additional investment and jobs to the area, according to the Council.

The first refurbishment development aims to create a new National Business District at Shawfield, which could create up to 15,000 jobs.
Planning approval by the Council could mean more than 350,000 sq m of business space will be developed over the next 20 to 30 years.
The plans include a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Clyde with links to Dalmarnock.
A new Shawfield Cross on Glasgow Road is also being proposed, which would include a pedestrian-friendly civic square and links to the new bridge.
A four-storey office building on the Farmeloan Road site, formely home to the Monogram factory, has been included in the proposal.
South Lanarkshire Council believes the building would have enough room to support about 210 jobs.
