£200m Glasgow Shopping Centre Extension Plans Submitted

Plans have been submitted for a £200m mixed-use extension to Glasgow’s Braehead shopping centre.

The plans, submitted by Capital Shopping Centres (CSC), feature designs for what will be one of the largest private investment projects in Scotland.

Over 2,000 construction jobs are expected to be created through the development.

Renfrewshire Council will now review the plans.

The designs include new retail and leisure facilities, a new arena for ice and other sports, concerts, entertainment shows, conferences and exhibitions.

A new public square and 200-bed hotel will also be included in the development.

Peter Beagley, regional centre director for CSC said: "This will be one of the biggest private investment projects in Scotland for a long time.

"With planning consent, we will be creating thousands of jobs at a time of economic downturn and it will be a boost not only to Renfrewshire, but also to the wider West of Scotland economy."
