New Home Energy Saving Project For Inverclyde

Tenants and homeowners could save up to £500 a year on their energy bills as part of a new £1.7m project run by Inverclyde Council.

Delivered through the Council's Local Energy Saving Scheme (LESS), in partnership with local charity Solas, householders in Inverclyde can now have solid wall, cavity wall and loft insulation installed completely free of charge, with average grants available to them of around £8,000.

The service has been made possible following a successful bid by the local authority for £631,000 from the Scottish Government.

A further £1m is available through Energy Company Obligation (ECO) grants.

Education & Communities Convener Councillor Terry Loughran said: "This project will deliver huge energy savings and help to create and sustain local jobs. I would encourage people to contact Solas quickly as we expect this project to be very popular as energy prices continue to rise."

Graham McLennan, Managing Director of Solas added: "Strengthening our partnership brings many benefits to Inverclyde including the local people we have in the team at Solas. As a social enterprise, 100% of any money Solas makes goes back into our charitable objective of helping people save money on energy bills, which we know is highly valued by the Council and our customers."
