Event For Residents Affected By Energy Efficiency Works

Construction News Image
A drop-in information session is to be held on Wednesday 14 August for residents in North Muirton, Perth and Kinross, whose homes are to be included in new energy efficiency works in the area.

The project will see Council blocks in North Muirton fitted with external wall insulation.

This involves the fixing of insulation boards to the outside face of the building. The boards are then protected from the weather by a decorative render or roughcast.

The external wall insulation reduces energy use and will also provide a fresh new look to the blocks.

The Council has said the external wall insulation systems can save up to 45% of the heat loss from a home, and could therefore result in an average reduction in fuel bills of around £490 each year.

Funding for the scheme is being provided by the new national Home Energy Efficiency Scotland - Area Based Schemes (HEEPS-ABS) programme by the Scottish Government, which makes money available to local authorities to help homeowners carry out energy efficiency work on houses in their area.

Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) has also made a significant contribution to the cost, and the Council will be working in partnership with the company to deliver the project.

A similar project is being developed by the Council and SSE for the Hillyland area as well.

Residents of North Muirton who qualify for the works - both Council tenants and owner occupiers - will have been notified by letter.

They are invited to attend the drop-in event at North Inch Community Campus on 14 August between 5pm and 8pm.

Council representatives, SSE and the contractor carrying out the works will be in attendance, as well as the manufacturer of the insulation cladding, and will be be available to answer any questions residents may have.
