The work will be carried out in sections over the next five weeks, according to North Lanarkshire Council.
As a result of the improvement scheme, sections of the road – between the A723 Hamilton Road junction and the A725 Raith Interchange – will be temporarily closed at different times to complete the work. Local access to the Watersports Centre from Hamilton Road and to M&D's and other businesses from the Raith Interchange will be maintained. There will be no traffic restrictions in place at weekends or during the school holidays, which are from 14 to 18 October.

Commenting on the project, Councillor James Coyle, Convener of the Planning and Transportation Committee, said: "Strathclyde Country Park is one of the most popular attractions in central Scotland, with hundreds of thousands of people enjoying the facilities on and around the Loch.
"This resurfacing work on parts of the spine road through the park is part of the council's investment in maintaining and improving this unique facility.
"The park will be the proud host of the triathlon event at next year's Commonwealth Games, and there will be further improvement work carried out on the other roads in the park and at the Watersports Centre to ensure we deliver a first class sporting venue for 2014."
