The work was carried out as part of the local authority's investment programme in local parks and playparks.

A fund of £0.825m has been set aside for Phase three of the improvement programme in East Ayrshire, which will allow the Council to ensure play equipment is in good condition, as well as having the opportunity to build new playparks in the area.

The new playparks, within phase three of the improvement programme, are:

Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of East Ayrshire Council said: "Our young people are absolutely delighted with their new playpark which has been taking shape over the last couple of weeks.

"Studies show that play is essential to child development and also to health improvement – it encourages children to be fit and healthy and also helps them learn and build confidence. This programme, funded by the Council, will positively affect every community in East Ayrshrire and not just our young people.

"We have also installed fitness equipment for adults in the Kay Park and the Howard Park in Kilmarnock."
