Go Ahead For New Homes In Muirton

Construction News Image
Proposals to continue the regeneration of Muirton, Perth, have been approved by Councillors.

According to Scottish Housing News, the local authority has given the green light for additional new homes to be constructed in the area.

It is understood that land belonging to Perth and Kinross Council will be sold to Fairfield Housing Cooperative who will then move forward with the development.

The latest project will be part of a wider £40m regeneration project to transform Muirton and will see a further 25 affordable homes built.

Detailed planning permission for the properties is expected to be submitted in May.

Grant Ager, Chief Executive of Fairfield Housing Cooperative, is quoted as saying: "Fairfield Housing Co-operative are delighted with our partners Perth and Kinross Council and Caledonia Housing Association and the support of the Scottish Government to be progressing the fifth phase of the Muirton regeneration. This will see a further much needed 25 homes being completed by 2015.

"Muirton has improved markedly since the project started in 2004 with a marked reduction on crime, anti social behaviour and overall poverty, we only see this trend continuing. This is much to the credit of the community and the successful partnership approach to the project. The most ringing endorsement are the large numbers of people applying to gain a home there of high quality in a much improved area."
