Auchenblae has been earmarked as one of the villages within Aberdeenshire to be considered for designation as a conservation area. The village is home to more than 75 listed buildings, and also benefits from its setting among the hills and waterways situated between the Mount of Finella.

The local authority has said plans to designate Auchenblae as a conservation area is a way of highlighting the architectural and historic interest of the village, as well as to manage change's in the village effectively in the future.
As a result, Aberdeenshire Council are encouraging local communities to get involved with the process. The draft conservation area appraisal is now complete and can be viewed online.
The drop-in session will also provide locals with an opportunity to get involved. This will be held at Auchenblae Hall on 10 April 2013 from 4pm to 8pm.
