Residents of Johnstone Castle, Renfrewshire, are being encouraged to have their say on housing regeneration plans for the area.

Consultation events have already been held, but this one will also locals to ask questions as well as share their views on plans to demolish 288 tenement properties and replace them with new builds.

The new properties would be a mix of terraced and semi-detached houses.

The addresses being put forward for demolition are:

• 67-109 and 155-157 Elm Drive (odd numbers)

• 45 Sycamore Avenue

• 2-26 Cedar Avenue (even numbers).

In addition, there are proposals that the lock-ups at Elm Drive/Spruce Avenue and at Maple Drive could also be demolished, while tenants and residents of the tenement flats at 21-31 Pine Crescent and 47-49 Sycamore Avenue are also being asked to speak to council staff. These properties are not included in the demolition proposals but the officers are keen to hear the views of tenants and residents living at these addresses.

A spokesperson for Renfrewshire Council is quoted as saying: "The drop-in events allow us to explain the proposals and answer people's questions and concerns face to face. We'd like to thank everyone who spoke to us at the previous two events.

"However, we know that not everyone would have been able to come along so we're still very keen to hear from these residents. We urge anyone who has not already spoken to us and whose property is included in the proposals to come along to the drop in session."

The drop-in event will be held at Johnstone Castle Community Centre on Wednesday 23 April, between 1pm and 4pm.
