A team, known as the 'stitch in time' team, will look for blocked gutters, broken downpipes, crumbling masonry and unwelcome weeds in and around the area. Already, they have carried out minor repairs on Dunfermline High Street, while any significant issues spotted by the team are reported to the owners in order to allow appropriate action to be taken.
Councillor Helen Law, Chair of Fife Council's City of Dunfermline Area Committee, said: "It's important that we take good care of our town centre buildings. We want local people to feel a sense of pride in their surroundings and for visitors to fully appreciate our beautiful, historic city.

"We are investing in the future of our town in a number of ways. We've now got free wi-fi in the city centre, we're supporting new businesses and a number of key events and festivals are putting Dunfermline on the map."
She continued: "The Business Improvement District has had a major involvement in many of these initiatives and over the next month local businesses will be balloted to renew their support for BID company Dunfermline Delivers.
"I would urge traders to get behind Dunfermline Delivers and build on the work the company has been involved in over the past five years. Our shared vision of an ancient capital with an aspiring future is something we're keen to pursue with Dunfermline Delivers so I hope local traders will join with us as we move forward for the benefit of the town."
