Tain Town Centre Action Plan To Be Launched

The Highland Council has said a public event will be held next week which will look at the future development of Tain town centre.

The two-day workshop will provide residents and businesses in the area to view the plans and share their opinions, all of which will help to influence the future of the town. The event will also allow locals to comment on the best way to increase the number of people visiting Tain, improve the environment, how buildings are used and how people travel. This will subsequently assist the local authority to draw up an Action Plan for the town.

The workshops will ask the local community for their thoughts on:

• The layout and design of buildings, streets and open spaces

• Methods of travel to, from and around the town centre

• The shops, services and facilities in the town centre, as well as the type of jobs on offer.

Local Councillor, Jamie Stone, said: "We want everyone who cares about Tain town centre to bring along their ideas of how to keep it a unique and active place where people will want to to visit and spend time and money.

"This is a great opportunity to shape the future of Tain so even if people can only pop in for a few minutes it would be great to get their input."

The event will take place at the Church Hall of Tain Parish Church, Queen Street, on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 May. On Wednesday, the hall will be open from 9.15am to 7pm and on Thursday from 9.15am to 7.30pm.

An online questionnaire will also be available ahead of the event.
