Housing Improvement Scheme Begins

Construction News Image
A housing improvement scheme at Broomhead Drive, Fife, is currently underway, the local authority has confirmed.

The project follows a consultation period between the Council and tenants and a number of improvements were agreed to be carried out at the properties.

The work includes:

• New windows

• Wall cladding

• Improvements to balconies

• A new community flat on the ground floor of block 41-181.

Fife Council has said the work will not only help to improve the appearance of the estate, but also increase energy efficiency measures in the homes, while the new community flat will allow residents a space to address wider community issues, as well as work on future projects to continue improving the flats and the estate. Further works for the flats are said to include improvements to launderettes and improvements to the roofs at the three blocks of flats.

Welcoming the improvements, Councillor Judy Hamilton, Executive Spokesperson for Housing and Building Services, said: "I was really pleased to see the planned physical improvements at Broomhead Drive are starting to make progress. This will be a great benefit to local residents and make the estate a more attractive place to live.

"I was delighted to talk to local tenants who were enthusiastic about the improvements being made to their homes. To hear they are being encouraged to get involved in some of the new community projects developed on their own doorstep shows a great community spirit. This can only bring a positive outcome, which people who live in the area will appreciate."
