Inverclyde Council Issues Demolition Order

Inverclyde Council has confirmed it has served a demolition order to property owners of the Clune Park estate.

For a number of years, the state of housing within Clune Park has been an issue for the Port Glasgow area, with antisocial and criminal behaviour taking place, while many of the flats in the area are owned by those who do not actually reside in the area, and others are owned or managed by private landlords.


It is hoped the order to demolish the properties will help to regenerate the estate as part of a £2.6m investment. The plans would see a total of 430 homes destroyed with new social housing been built in its place.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Council said: "Clune Park has been in decline for at least the past 17 years and the most recent survey, carried out by an independent surveyor, shows clearly and conclusively that the properties have fundamental flaws in their structure that limit their lifespan.

"The two most important considerations here are support for residents and tenants to find new homes and getting a new lease of life at the Clune Park area."
