Clyde Gateway Development Boosts Jobs

A number of local jobs have been created through a new £24m office development at Dalmarnock in Clyde Gateway.

The development, for Police Scotland, is being carried out by Morgan Sindall and has seen more than 50 local job seekers working on site in a variety of roles.

In partnership with the Clyde Gateway Urban Regeneration Company, the contractor has been working on an employment programme to deliver jobs, apprenticeships and work experience opportunities to the local community.

Already, 23 have been employed, while 11 apprenticeships have been created and 25 others have benefited from work experience on site. The roles have either been directly with Morgan Sindall, or with sub-contractors in its supply chain.

Harry Thorburn, Morgan Sindall's managing director, said: "Our core business is delivering key construction and infrastructure projects, but we know that our work goes a lot deeper than that.

"We have a duty to not only ensure that the local communities in which we work benefit while we are on site, but also that we leave a lasting legacy in the shape of a better skilled workforce who are more economically productive."

The Riverside East building is due for completion next month when it will the base for 1,100 officers and staff from Police Scotland.
