Financial Close Agreed On New Health Centre

East Renfrewshire Council has said financial close has been received on the new Eastwood Health Centre.

The deal means that work can now begin on site in Drumby Crescent, Clarkston.

The state-of-the-art health and care centre will provide services for the community of Eastwood and is expected to open its doors by spring 2016.

It will provide a range of GP, clinical, social care and voluntary self help services.

Morgan Sindall has been appointed the principle contractor for the project and have confirmed they will begin work on site from next Monday.

Temporary fencing has already been erected around the site, while work to upgrade Drumby Crescent, from the site entrance to the junction with Eastwoodmains Road, will commence on Monday (27 October).

Excavated material will be removed from the site from Monday 1 December.

Councillor Alan Lafferty, Chair of the Community Health & Care Partnership (CHCP) Committee, said: "This is wonderful news for East Renfrewshire and the culmination of a huge amount of partnership work between East Renfrewshire Council, NHS, hub West Scotland and Scottish Futures Trust. I am delighted that work can now begin on building this much needed facility."
