Plans For New Council Office Unveiled

West Dunbartonshire Council have unveiled plans for its new office building.

The building is located in Dumbarton town centre, at the site of the old Academy building and if the plans are approved, the current derelict A-listed frontage of the property would be restored.

Around 500 council staff, currently based at Garshake Road, would eventually move to the new premises.

The local authority has said it will hold a public consultation event to allow the community to view and comment on the proposals.

The event will be held at the Burgh Hall in Dumbarton, on Wednesday 3 December from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Councillor Patrick McGlinchey, Convener for Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, said: "If you are interested in the future of Dumbarton Town Centre and want to know more about how this major new development will benefit it, I'd urge you to come along to this event and find out more about the project.

"We want people to share their thoughts and ideas with us so that the investment delivers the best possible benefits for Dumbarton."

Councillor David McBride, Depute Convener for Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, added: "The relocation of 500 Council staff to the centre of Dumbarton is great news for the local economy, and is evidence of how this Council is putting our town centres first. It will increase footfall in the town centre, improve trade for shops, and create confidence in Dumbarton as a place where things are happening."
