The facility will service the communities in Badenoch and Strathspey.
The hospital and resource centre will be constructed in Aviemore, and will replace Ian Charles Hospital in Grantown-on-Spey and St Vincent's Hospital in Kingussie. The initiative will also allow care-at-home and community services to expand, with Aviemore Health Centre and Glen Day Centre in Aviemore relocating to the new site.

Welcoming the decision, Gary Coutts, Chair of NHS Highland, said: "I am delighted that after a comprehensive engagement and consultation process the people of Badenoch and Strathspey can now look forward to the provision of redesigned services and a state-of-the-art new facility in their community. It is great news for them and I am grateful to everyone who has contributed to this process."
Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Shona Robison, added: "These proposals will bring new, modern facilities to the area and I look forward to the board taking them forward in close consultation with the people of Badenoch and Strathspey."
It is anticipated that construction work will commence in summer 2017, with the completed hospital opening in December 2018.
