The project, which is being managed by Sanctuary Scotland Housing Association, commenced in September 2014 and will see 62 homes built.
The homes are being constructed on the site of the former Craigewan nursing home in the town. The groundwork for the scheme was completed in December, and this has allowed Graham Construction, the appointed contractor for the scheme, to work on site and build timber frame kits for the properties. Most of the kits are due to be erected by April 2015, with roof and brick work continuing.

The project is expected to be completed in the autumn.
Upon completion, Aberdeenshire Council will receive 42 of the 62 houses. It is understood the local authority will receive 31 mainstream properties and 11 flats for supported housing for clients with learning disabilities. The remaining 20 homes will be made available for social rent and managed by local housing provider Tenants First.

"This development is part of a significant commitment by Aberdeenshire Council to increase the number of affordable homes across Aberdeenshire.
"This is key to ensuring we are able to attract key workers to the area as well as providing homes for people on our waiting lists."
