New MUGA Installed At Whinhill Primary

A new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) has opened at Whinhill Primary School in Inverclyde.

The school is the first in the area to benefit from an upgrade to new blaes pitches. The facility will allow pupils to participate in a number of sports including basketball, football, netball and short tennis.

Councillor Terry Loughran, Inverclyde Council's Education and Communities Convener, said: "We're delighted to unveil this new outdoor recreation facility at Whinhill Primary School. The MUGA provides pupils with a safe and enclosed environment in which they can participate in multiple leisure activities during school.


"Whinhill is one of ten primary schools in Inverclyde to benefit from the MUGA upgrade, and it's fantastic to see the investment being enjoyed by the pupils."

The project has been carried out as part of Inverclyde Council's Schools Investment Programme. A similar MUGA is now expected to be completed at St Ninian's Primary School in May, with an upgrade at Kilmacolm Primary School to follow.

An additional £1.1m has been set aside to upgrade the sports facilities in eight other Inverclyde primary schools. Work is already underway at one school, with work scheduled to commence on the rest in April.
