The new route at Drumshoreland in Pumpherston was built by the council and opened on Sunday, 20 March.
The project also includes the consolidation of old mine workings and allows the construction of the council houses off the new distributor road to progress.

In addition, new traffic signal features have been installed as well as pedestrian and cyclist facilities.
Cllr Tom Conn said: "This is a major infrastructure project that will improve transport links for the local community.
"The project has taken six months to complete and has been completed on budget. We believe it will bring major benefits to the local community.
"The land was effectively redundant and the new road will improve access to future developments within the area. The road also removes the need for heavy vehicular traffic from Drumshoreland Road which will be a positive for local residents."
