The scheme at Dundee's Perth Road is the first part of a programme which will see £5 million invested in upgrading the regions drinking water infrastructure.
The project involves lining and flushing existing water mains in the area.
Some initial work is expected to be carried out in the area from late May, with the main work on Perth Road itself from early July - with traffic management in place.

Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water's Community Team Manager, said: "This event, along with our wider communications to the local area is greatly important, in helping us understand the needs of customers, giving them the opportunity to find out more, and also in ensuring customers are fully aware of works that affect them.
"The work we are set to carry out is essential for the long term water supply. By refurbishing our water mains, it will ensure that the water supply network continues to provide water quality of the highest standard."
The event will take place at Blackness Community Library between 3pm – 7:30pm on Thursday, 28 April.
