A joint venture (JV) between Amey and Black and Veatch (aBV) is underway with a £350,000 waste water network upgrade project in West Lothian.
The four-month project is due to begin on today, 02 June and is being carried out on behalf of Scottish Water.
Features include replacing 410 metres of a rising main from Uphall Pumping Station to the gravity system near MacFarlane Place.
The first phase of work involves setting up of the site compound on Stankards Road and will take around 10 days to complete.
Phase two will begin on Thursday, 16 June and requires the closure of a 0.7km section of the A89 from the roundabout at Station Road to South Middleton.
The closure will be in place for four weeks and diversions will be in place.
Pipe replacement work will also take place in some private fields and along footpaths on MacFarlane Place.
Bill Elliot, Scottish Water's Community Team Manager, said: "This upgrade to the sewer network is a significant investment for the future service to our West Lothian customers.
"By its very nature, waste water infrastructure has a lifespan and it is key that sections are replaced in good time to ensure they are in the best possible condition to provide a reliable service for many years to come.
"We've communicated with customers residing in the streets around where the work will progress and the aBV team will have a site agent on hand throughout the works for continuous correspondence with the community."
