Nearly 500 new homes are to be built in South Lanarkshire.
Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has secured planning permission to develop 486 new homes at Benthall Farm in East Kilbride. Pre-construction works are scheduled to begin on-site in early 2017.
The 61-acre site, located off Shields Road, has been allocated for housing in the South Lanarkshire Local Development Plan. Features include an equipped play area and substantial open space for residents.
In addition, 124 of the homes will be made 'affordable', with an allocation of land to deliver 62 properties in the Benthall Farm development in the future.
Taylor Wimpey West Scotland will also contribute around £3.4m towards education, community and off-site road infrastructure improvements.
It is expected the first new homes will be available for purchase in summer 2017.
David Blair, Major Projects Director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: "We are delighted to confirm that detailed planning consent has been granted for our development of new homes off Shields Road at Benthall Farm in East Kilbride. This consent will allow us to bring forward a development that offers buyers a great choice of new homes.
"This planning consent also marks our ongoing commitment, investment and strong track record of delivering excellent quality developments of family homes in South Lanarkshire, and it follows the successful launch of our Annsfield Farm development in Hamilton earlier this year and our on-going delivery of the Community Growth Area at Newton, Cambuslang."
