£300,000 Funding Secured To Resurface Moffat Tennis Courts

Nearly £300,000 of funding has been secured for a tennis court resurfacing project in Moffat, Dumfries and Galloway.

A total of six blaes tennis courts will undergo maintenance at Beechrove Tennis Club as part of the £290,000 scheme. Work is due to begin this summer.

In addition, the upgrade will also see floodlighting added to three of the courts, further enhancing opportunities for tennis all year round.

The historic courts staged the Scottish Tennis Championships in the late nineteenth century and still act as the venue for the South of Scotland Championships.

Cllr Jeff Leaver said: "I'm really pleased our Council can invest in this facility. One of our Council's commitments is to encouraging and supporting children to be healthy and active and this facility upgrade will enable many more youngsters to participate in tennis."
