Construction News Image
Work on a park redevelopment project in Midlothian is now complete.

The Mayfield Park improvement scheme was supported by the Central Scotland Green Network Development Fund and SUEZ Communities Trust (formerly SITA Trust).

Features include a new multi-use path which links the park into the town centre from the wider path and cycle network. In addition, ornamental gates have also been refurbished to provide a more attractive welcome to the park while other improvements include the addition of new play equipment. These include a new rotating net and a wheelchair friendly roundabout.

Environmental improvements include the placement of new native trees and shrub plating. Plans are also in progress with the local community to develop an outdoor gym.

Cll John Hackett said: "Thanks to the support of the Central Scotland Green Network Development Fund and SUEZ Communities Trust, Mayfield Park is now a greener, healthier and safer place for local people and visitors.

"It is really great to see the finished article and I’m sure the park will be a fantastic asset for the local community."

Keith Geddes, Chair of the Central Scotland Green Network Trust, added: "We are very proud to play our part in supporting the work to improve Mayfield Park which is a very important community resource.

"Our Development Fund is focused on improving access to greenspace which has a positive impact on the quality of life for people living and working in the area and Mayfield Park is an ideal example of the beneficial work delivered through the fund."
