Construction News Image
A total of eight new cottage flats have been built in Perth.

The new homes, which are spread across two 2-storey blocks on Glenearn Road, were built by CCG on behalf of the local authority.

The new development cost over £1 million and is the latest in a series of new build projects that CCG has undertaken for Perth & Kinross Council over the past 18 months. Other projects include 16 properties on Nimmo Avenue and an eight-property cottage flat development on Cairns Crescent.

Work is now underway on a further 20 cottage flats on Birch Avenue, Scone, spread across five two-storey blocks. The project will take 35 weeks to complete with the first timber superstructures arriving on site in November.

Calum Murray, Director of CCG, said: "We are seeing a huge rise in demand for social housing, not only in Perth and Kinross but across the country as the Scottish Government moves towards meeting its ambitious housing targets.

"It is good to see Glenearn Road is now complete. It is yet another example of how off-site methods of construction can benefit the delivery of housing. The entire development was constructed wind and water tight in just 32 days and will be highly energy efficient ensuring that the new residents will benefit from savings on their energy bills.

"We look forward to continuing our partnership with Perth & Kinross Council to deliver the new homes at Birch Avenue for spring- 2018."
