Up to 50 new homes are to be built in Maryhill, Glasgow.

Cadder Housing Association (HA) is investing £5.6 million to deliver the new social housing units at the former St Agnes Primary School site in Tresta Road, Cadder.

Contractors McTaggart's Construction are already on site at the new development, which will include a mix of flats and terraced houses. Completion is scheduled by November 2018.

Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government have provided £3m of grants towards the project, backed by a £2.6m loan from Bank of Scotland.

Kenny Mollins, Director of Cadder HA, said the development is a "major milestone" in its ongoing regeneration of Cadder.

"The development of the former school site, which has laid barren since the school was demolished in 2009, will regenerate this land at the gateway to the community," he said.

"McTaggart Construction was a clear choice for us, due to its strong record of achievement in new-build housing developments in the housing association sector."

Janice Russell, Director at McTaggart's Construction, said: "This project will transform this land and provide high quality and sustainable homes for the association's prospective tenants. It will certainly improve their quality of life and make a positive contribution to Cadder's regeneration programme."
