A company called SR Roofing are reportedly calling to the doors of residents and offering to provide a free roof check for those who qualify for the service.
The company is claiming to work for the council. However, SR Roofing are not contracted to the local authority and are not authorised to carry out roof inspections.

Cllr Jim McMahon said: "SR Roofing are currently calling people in the Irvine Valley and are suggesting that they are working with the Council offering free roof checks. This is not the case. The Council is not working with this company and they are not contracted to provide services on behalf of the Council.
"You should never give out personal information such as bank details over the phone to a cold caller. Unscrupulous callers could be looking to get access to important personal information in order to use them for illegal purposes.
"Never be rushed or flustered into making a decision or giving information over the phone. If you feel uncomfortable just end the call.
"Most importantly talk to someone you trust if you think you have been targeted by a scammer. It is essential that we get a full picture of current scams in circulation to help protect vulnerable people within our communities."
