Construction News Image
Residents are being invited to submit their views over an £18 million waterfront development project in Helensburgh, Argyll and Bute.

Main features of the scheme include building a new leisure facility incorporating a swimming pool, developing parking/public realm improvements and strengthening flood defences.

A formal 12-week public consultation on the proposals will get underway on Monday, 26 February. Presentation materials and feedback forms will be available throughout the consultation in the Victoria Halls, Helensburgh Library and Helensburgh Swimming Pool.

Design proposals, to which the public has already contributed through previous engagement exercises, will be on display at three public events in March.

Cllr Ellen Morton said: "The Helensburgh Waterfront Development project is all about creating a vibrant and attractive waterfront for the town that will benefit local people and, by attracting day visitors, local businesses.

"We want to involve communities as much as possible so are going beyond what is required by the planning process. We have already consulted with a number of groups and will hold three public events to give people the chance to find out more and give views. I would encourage everyone to get involved."

Cllr Gary Mulvaney said: "The Helensburgh Waterfront Development will be a fantastic asset for the town and the surrounding area, benefitting the whole community. We would like to progress it with local people as well as for them, and so would welcome hearing views on design proposals."
