Updated Plans On Display For A96 Dualling Hardmuir To Fochabers Scheme

Construction News Image
Updated plans are on display for the A96 Dualling Hardmuir to Fochabers scheme.

A number of changes to the original proposals have been made following ongoing design work with the public consultation process.

Alterations include avoiding any direct impact on the local heritage site Macbeth's Hillock and reduced effects on the flood plain, as well as other design developments. Further details on the developing route options designs are also available, including potential layouts for junctions on the section to be dualled, and more detail on local road connections.

Drop-in events will be held from 12 noon - 7pm at;

• Elgin Town Hall, 1 Trinity Place, Elgin, today, 27 February

• Mansefield Hotel, Mayne Road, Elgin, 28 February

• Forres Town Hall, High Street, Forres, 01 March

• Fochabers Institute, 15 High Street, Fochabers, 02 March

Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Jobs and Fair Work, Keith Brown said: "The Scottish Government has given a clear commitment to dual the A96 which will see delivery of around 88 miles of upgraded road between Inverness and Aberdeen, a huge task but one we are relishing.

"Dualling the A96 requires careful, in-depth planning and design so that we deliver the right scheme and help tackle congestion, make journey times more reliable and, crucially, improve road safety.

"These drop-ins starting today are showing the public how the design work is progressing for the section of the A96 between Hardmuir and Fochabers. The material on show includes potential junction layouts and design updates that have been made following feedback received on initial route options identified last year."
