More Than 200 Dundee Homes To Undergo Energy Efficiency Upgrade

Construction News Image
Energy efficiency works are to be carried out to more than 200 homes in Dundee.

A total of 232 mixed-tenure properties will be upgraded through the latest £1.7 million phase of an external wall insulation (EWI) programme.

Since 2016, nearly £40m has been invested across the city to make homes warmer and more energy efficient.

The project, if approved by the neighbourhood services committee next week, would benefit properties in Harefield Road, Ann Street, Hilltown, Watson St Atholl, Moncur Crescent, Strathmore Avenue and Beechwood. Funding will be allocated from Dundee City Council, Energy Company Obligation (ECO) AND Home Energy Efficiency Programme Scotland – Area Based Schemes (HEEPS – ABS) funding.

SSE are managing the work on behalf of the council and work is scheduled to be completed by April next year.

Anne Rendall Depute Convener of the council's neighbourhood services committee, said: "The benefits of signing up for external wall insulation are so obvious and at no cost to the tenant, it's a real no brainer.

"In Dundee we are committed to combating fuel poverty and this latest round of investment will see move a step closer to eradicating it.

"It is my firm commitment that the council will continue to do all it can to make sure that the people of Dundee have energy efficient homes they can afford to heat."
