Work on a new £4.95 million community facility in Auchinairn, East Dunbartonshire is now complete.

The new centre has been built on the site of the former Auchinairn Primary School by Robertson Construction on behalf of the local authority.

Features include a range of facilities including a nursery, community hall, cafe, meeting rooms and play area.

Ed Parry, Managing Director of Robertson Central West, said: "This is a state-of-the-art facility and one that I am sure residents of Auchinairn will take to their hearts. Over the past few years, we have established a strong relationship with East Dunbartonshire Council and that has proved invaluable to the success of the project. We've also engaged extensively with the local community, ensuring they were part of the process every step of the way."

Elsewhere, Robertson has also finished work on the Huntershill Sports Hub Facility in Bishopbriggs. Designed to encourage sporting activity, the facility includes an all-weather 3G sports pitch, a sports pavilion building, an athletics track and three year-round tennis courts.

The work at Auchinairn and Huntershill was procured through Scape Group's National Major Works framework, now superseded by Major Works Scotland, part of the Scape National Construction framework, and delivered by Robertson in partnership with Willmott Dixon.

East Dunbartonshire Provost Alan Brown said: "In partnership with Robertson we have been able to build a centre that meets the needs of the local communities.

"They helped us consult with residents, community groups and the nursery to ensure the building provided a modern facility which would become a central part of community life.

"It is already very busy with local groups using its hall and meeting spaces every night of the week, the café is up and running and the children in the nursery are loving exploring their new indoor and outdoor learning and play areas."
