Funding Secured For Improvement Works To Crask Junction

Funding of £250,000 has been secured to complete improvement works to the Crask Junction on the Black Isle.

Crask Junction, which is located on the B9169 Muir of Ord – Leanaig - Culbokie - Shorton Road, follows a blind summit, with high traffic speeds on the main road. The Council's Roads Operation Team identified the junction as their highest priority due to a high safety risk.


The funds were approved by Members of The Highland Council's Environment, Development and Infrastructure Committee, allocated from the Council's Capital Programme for 2018-23.

Following significant community involvement and consultation, the design is complete and planning approval obtained. Land negotiations are also very well advanced.

Cllr Allan Henderson, Chair of the Environment, Development and Infrastructure Committee said: "The local community has worked very hard to demonstrate the business case for these important junction improvements. The project is a very good example of the Council's Roads Team and the community working together to find a solution to improve local road safety through re-design."
