Pat Munro Ltd To Deliver Final Phase Of Inverness Junction Work

Construction News Image
Pat Munro Ltd is preparing to deliver the final phase of work on the Inverness water network at the junction of Kenneth Street and Tomnahurich Street on the A82.

The work involves four valves being relocated to help improve the network for customers in the Dalneigh and Ballifeary areas. It will take place over the weekend, from 7am on Saturday 15 September until 7am on Monday, 17 September.

Scottish Water's contractor successfully completed the first phase of work in four days and nights at the end of August to install new valves, away from the centre of the busy junction.

Clearly signposted diversions will be in place for traffic using the A82 via General Booth Road and Muirtown; and via the West Link road and Sir Walter Scott Drive.

Scottish Water's Project Manager Ailsa Shaw said: "I would like to thank road users and local residents for their patience last month while the first phase of work took place.

"Our team on site from Pat Munro and Alba Traffic Management worked hard to install the new valves on time and to keep disruption to a minimum. The same team will be working right through this weekend to finish the job.

"Completing this work and removing the old valves is essential to make sure we can continue to provide customers in this part of Inverness with clear, fresh and great-tasting water, reducing the risk of interruptions. It will also remove a potential cause of unplanned disruption to traffic; and give all road users a smoother journey through the junction in future.

"We do recognise that closing this junction is disruptive at any time and I would like to apologise for any inconvenience that is caused. I would urge drivers to allow some extra time for their journeys and to make use of the signposted diversions."
